HarborOne Bank will award ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors
HarborOne Bank will renew ten college scholarships of $1,000 each for the upcoming academic year to deserving high school students entering their freshman year of college who embody a commitment to community and academic excellence.
“HarborOne Bank is proud to bring back the ONECommunity scholarship program for another year, which offers us an incredible opportunity to help students succeed,” said James Blake, President and CEO of HarborOne Bank. “Over the last decade, it’s been an honor to contribute to creating brighter futures for dozens of great students from around the region. We look forward to helping some outstanding students from the Class of 2016.”
Over the past eleven years, HarborOne Bank has provided more than $100,000 in scholarships to exceptional students from throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
Recipients will be chosen from a competitive pool of applicants by a committee of HarborOne employee volunteers. Committee members base their decisions on a number of factors, including students’ academic transcript, level of participation in community and school activities, letters of recommendation, awards and recognition received, and personal essays.
Eligible candidates include high school seniors whose immediate family has an active account at HarborOne.
Only the first fifty completed applications received by the HarborOne Scholarship Committee will be considered. No more than the first five received from any particular high school will be given consideration, and no more than two scholarships will be awarded to any high school.
Evaluation will be based upon academic record, community involvement, school activities, awards, recommendations, and an essay.
Applications and other details are available at the HarborOne website: https://www.harborone.com/About-Us/Community and will be accepted until March 31, 2016.
