HarborOne is expanding the ONECommunity Scholarship Program
HarborOne Bank is excited to announce the expansion of the ONECommunity Scholarship Program. The Brockton-based bank will commit $1 million over the next 10 years to provide college scholarships to deserving students.
In 2016, HarborOne will award 20 college scholarships worth $5,000 each to deserving high school seniors who embody a commitment to community and academic excellence. High school students entering their freshman year of college will have until April 29 to apply for a scholarship.
“At HarborOne Bank, we have a long-standing belief in the value of education and its ability to change lives,” said HarborOne Bank President and CEO James W. Blake. “We’re excited and proud to expand our commitment to helping outstanding students from our region, and we’re looking forward to providing some terrific awards to the Class of 2016.”
Over the past eleven years, HarborOne Bank has provided more than $100,000 in scholarships to exceptional students from throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
The scholarships are one-year scholarships to students attending accredited two- or four-year colleges or technical schools. Eligible candidates include high school seniors whose immediate family has an active account at HarborOne.
Recipients will be chosen from a competitive pool of applicants by a committee of HarborOne employee volunteers. Committee members base their decisions on a number of factors, including students’ academic transcript, level of participation in community and school activities, letters of recommendation, awards and recognition received, and personal essays.
