As part of its one-hundred year birthday celebration, HarborOne Bank announced today the launch of the HarborOne Foundation with donations totaling, $100,000 divided among four outstanding organizations. The HarborOne Foundation was created with a portion of the proceeds from the bank’s recent public offering and will expand HarborOne’s ability to assist and create opportunities for individuals and families across the region.  The Foundation’s efforts will focus on supporting high impact non-profit organizations that provide educational opportunities, access to safe and affordable housing and deliver basic human services to our most vulnerable citizens. The four local organizations receiving these $25,000 inaugural grants include Father Bill’s and MainSpring, NeighborWorks Southern MA, Old Colony YMCA and Boys & Girls Club of Brockton.
“We are proud to celebrate 100 years of expanding opportunities, enriching lives and strengthening communities,” said James Blake, President of HarborOne Bank. “As part of our dedication to the local community where we live and work, we are excited to launch the HarborOne Foundation with donations to local organizations whose efforts our consistent with our core values.”
Father Bill’s and MainSpring will use the donation to support 50 homeless individuals’ efforts to attain job skills, complete on-the-job-training and build toward stable employment and housing. The group contracts with local business and municipalities, where participants perform office cleaning, graffiti removal, apartment renovations and reuse, and landscaping.
The donation to NeighborWorks Southern MA will support a Program Coordinator to work directly with low to moderate income individuals to help provide educational and financial assistance necessary to successfully purchase a first home. The grant will help provide down payments for 20 local families seeking homeownership.
The donation to Old Colony YMCA will support a Family Stabilization program that provides wraparound services for families transitioning from homelessness to independent living. These services may include mental health counseling, life skills coaching and job preparedness.
The Boys & Girls Club of Brockton will use the donation to support teen educational programs including Pinnacle leadership program and Keystone Club which focuses on college readiness and leadership development.
"HarborOne Bank has been a long-time supporter of our mission to end homelessness across Southern Massachusetts, not only with financial resources, but human resources in the form of their incredible employee volunteerism at our individual shelter MainSpring House in Brockton,” said John Yazwinski, President and CEO of Father Bill’s and MainSpring. “HarborOne has always understood our 'Housing First' philosophy, which gives people who are struggling the opportunity to have their own key and personal space to deal with the issues that caused their homelessness. We are so grateful and proud to call HarborOne a partner.”
Applications for next year’s HarborOne Foundation grants will be available at the bank’s website as of April 18, 2017. For more information and to view video highlighting the four grant recipients visit
