HarborOne Bank to Donate New Backpacks, School Supplies to Local Children
HarborOne Bank announced today that as part of their commitment to education, the bank will join forces with their subsidiary Merrimack Mortgage to donate more than 4,000 backpacks full of new school supplies to local children in partnership with several local nonprofits and schools. On August 3
rd at the Brockton Boys & Girls Club eighty employees of HarborOne Bank and Merrimack Mortgage will pack thousands of backpacks.
“HarborOne Bank has been an active supporter of education throughout our region,” said James W. Black, CEO of HarborOne Bank. “Education is a high priority here at HarborOne Bank and we are excited to be able to provide children with the necessary supplies they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.”
The organizations who will receive the supplies to distribute to children include School on Wheels, DCF’s Wonderfund, the West School in Stoughton, Interfaith Social Services, Plymouth Public Schools and several branches of Salvation Army. In addition to the work to fill the backpacks with pencils, pens, notebooks and other supplies, HarborOne and Merrimack employees will also include personal notes of encouragement – all a part of the bank’s “Well Wish” Campaign.
“Getting a child ready for school can be a stressful time for families in many ways, especially financially. According to recent survey by
National Retail Federation consumers will spend over $100 school supplies. With this in mind, we hope HarborOne’s donation of backpack and new supplies helps lessen that burden for families and helps a child feel great on his/her first day of school.” said Jennifer White, Vice President Community and Public Relations at HarborOne Bank.
