(Brockton, MA) – December 7, 2022 – HarborOne Bank announced today that it will be donating $100,000 to Father Bill’s & MainSpring to assist in the construction of their innovative Brockton Housing Resource Center. Over the years, HarborOne has had the privilege to support the critical work of Father Bill’s & MainSpring with employee volunteerism, in-kind and financial donations as well as community development financing. The Brockton Housing Resource Center project aims to tackle two crucial aspects of the homeless crisis in Brockton and surrounding Plymouth County communities – the need for short-term assistance, and the need for long-term permanent housing. The Resource Center will incorporate services beyond what is expected from a traditional shelter, including a full-service health clinic, clinical social workers to provide assessments, substance abuse case managers, trained staff to help access food assistance and disability benefits, and more.

“HarborOne and Father Bill’s have forged an enduring partnership over many years, and we strongly endorse and support the compassionate, effective and important work they do,” said Scott Sanborn EVP and Chief Lending Officer, HarborOne Bank. “In addition to our philanthropic investment we are excited to participate in the financing of this critical project.”

“It means so much to us that HarborOne Bank, a Brockton-based company, has stepped up as one of the first major supporters of our innovative Brockton Housing Resource Center,” said John Yazwinski, Father Bill’s & MainSpring President & CEO. “We are so grateful to Joe Casey, Jen White, Scott Sanborn, and the entire team at HarborOne Bank and the HarborOne Bank Foundation for strengthening our mission and empowering our neighbors in need. We are incredibly proud to be partnering with a local company that is creating such positive and lasting change in our communities.”

The Brockton Housing Resource Center will be a 16,500-square-foot building breaking ground in late spring 2023. The facility will include a commercial kitchen and dining space, showers, laundry, lockers, two dormitories accommodating 128 shelter beds, with space for additional beds. A 15,000 square-foot building adjacent to the Housing Resource Center will include 32 units of permanent supportive housing for individuals.
